Meet Dr. Gondek

Eating disorder specialist

I have dedicated my professional career to treating patients with eating disorders across different settings and levels of care. Before founding RecoverED, LLC, I served as the Medical Director at The Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt, a nationally renowned comprehensive eating disorder treatment program. My experience extends to an Assistant Professor position at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where I directed the inpatient psychiatry consultation service at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center and led an Outpatient Eating Disorder Clinic in Columbia, MD.

In addition, I have worked as a staff psychiatrist at The Renfrew Center, a recognized partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient eating disorder program, and held an academic appointment as an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University. Throughout my career, I have collaborated with several bariatric surgery programs to establish guidelines for the psycho-social evaluation process. This work has provided me with extensive experience in treating patients who develop disordered eating following various weight-loss procedures. My commitment to understanding and addressing the complexities of eating disorders drives my work at RecoverED, LLC.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist, a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and I have sub-specialty training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry that focuses on the care of patients with coexisting psychiatric and medical conditions. I received a Fellowship award from the American Psychiatric Association for my dedication to the psychiatric profession and a prestigious Johns Hopkins Medicine Clinical Excellence Award for my outstanding contributions to patient care.

I completed my fellowship at Georgetown University/National Institute of Health/Washington Hospital Center, and I graduated from the residency at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, OH, where I served as an Education Chief Resident. I earned my Medical Doctor degree at the Medical University of Silesia in Poland.
